10 Healthy Weight Loss Habits

fatloss4idiotsPeople are constantly in search of something that will tell them what to do step by step. Unfortunately, as with most things, there is simply no such thing when it comes to weight loss, per se. But there are things that you can do that will contribute to your success. The following is a short list of 10 habits that will help you lose weight:

1.  Keep track of everything you consume. Make sure you include the amount and other details. This is to give you an idea of your eating habits at a glance, so you can adjust them accordingly.

2.  Refrain from eating any candies. Try to eat no more than 3 unhealthy snacks per week. This means no candy bars, no ice cream, and generally nothing with high sugar content. Again if you’re going to eat unhealthy snacks, keep it at NO MORE THAN 3 PER WEEK.

3.  Cut your fat intake by at least half. The best way to do this is to use very little butter/margarine, salad dressing, and mayonnaise.

4.  Try to eat a bunch of small meals every day, instead of eating 3 large ones.

5Make breakfast your biggest meal of the day, and make your meals increasingly smaller as the day goes on, making dinner your smallest meal.

6.  Try not to eat a lot of red meat. Instead use white meats like chicken and fish for protein.

7.  Instead of junk food and candy, eat fresh fruits. Truthfully, they are just as delicious and are much better for you.

8.  Drink water instead of sodas or juices. This will help you metabolism speed up by cleansing your kidneys and the rest of your organs. You can also add a lemon to cleanse your body even more.

9.  Eat as many vegetables as you can, vegetables will help fill your stomach, while also helping you burn fat.

10.Try to chew your food thoroughly, and don’t eat too fast. If you eat fast and don’t chew your food enough, then your body will have trouble digesting it the way it should.

Really, all of these healthy habits can be summed up by four words: Watch what you eat.  An extra tip would be to not eat too late at night. If you eat before you go to sleep you will have a greater chance of the food turning into fat.

Fat Loss 4 Idiots – The Issue of Drinking Liquid Calories

fatloss4idiotsOne of the most common ways people end up gaining weight is because of their propensity to drink their calories. That is, the beverage they enjoy is loaded with calories. Now, there is nothing inherently wrong with drinking calories. Many healthy drinks are loaded with calories due to their (helpful) natural sugar content. For example, orange juice and apple juice provide a number of healthy and useful nutrients to the body. But, if you are trying to drop weight, you must understand that each glass comes with 100 calories. And, yes, those calories due add up and turn into stored fat when they are not burned.

Eating on Top of Drinking

One of the main problems with drinking calories is that liquids generally will not fill you up. That is, if you are hungry and eat an orange, the pulp of the orange will fill up your stomach. That will curb hunger. Then again, why shouldn’t it? It is food and you have eaten it! However, when you drink orange juice, you get all the calories of the orange but not the pulp. That means you will still be hungry after drinking orange juice. So, when you do eat something you will add the calories of the food on top of the calories of the liquid. Now, the 90 calories you ingest from the glass of orange juice is at least minimal. (Well, it is per glass. If you drink a half dozen of them….) But, there are a number of healthy drinks out there that deliver many vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants; but, they also come with 300 calories per glass. Needless to say, these drinks will pack on a significant amount of weight in a very short period of time.

Keep in mind we are only discussing healthy drinks here. If you opt to drink sugary beverages, the calories you acquire will be significant. And, worst of all, there will be no nutritional value with the drinks.

Curtailing Your Liquid Calories

Rather than drinking beverages that are loaded with calories, it would be a wiser option to drink liquids that have no calories. Probably the best drink for this would be water. Water comes with zero calories and it also has the added benefit of flushing the kidneys and liver. This will lead to the enhancement of the metabolism which will, in turn, burn more fat.

For those that might not be a fan of drinking water, diet soda remains a viable option. No, diet soda is not the best beverage from a health perspective. However, it is a much better option that drinking regular soda and it will not yield the fat gain sugary beverages deliver.

It might take time to get used to no-calorie drinks. This is understandable since the body will always need a little time to get used to something new. In time, your taste buds will become accommodated to no-calorie drinks and your physique will reap the positive rewards. And is that not what you really want to achieve?
