Surgery Versus Diet and Exercises

fatloss4idiotsIn today’s world everything is very fast paced, and society has become impatient and anxious about every aspect of life. The way to weight loss has adapted to conform to this type of lifestyle as well. Many people who are looking for a quick fix to their weight loss problems, choose to go the route of surgery, instead of losing the weight by actually becoming healthy. After surgery is when many of the patients regret their decision. The following is an examination of the pros and cons of surgery versus diet and exercise.

Liposuction causes ugly scars, saggy skin and it doesn’t fix the problem. Therefore, the most common form of weight loss surgery is gastric bypass surgery. Since this is the most popular method, this is the surgery we’ll use for comparison. The first things you are guaranteed to to hate about your gastric bypass surgery, is the fact that you are not allowed to eat for 3 days after it. Also, the surgery will reduce the size of your stomach to the size of a walnut! So if you eat too much (which is not a lot) you will have severe pain in your chest, where the food enters the stomach area. You will also experience vomiting and nausea. You will also experience:

Aches and Pains

Feeling Tired and Sick

Feeling Cold

Dry Skin

Hair Loss

Mood Changes

How terrible would it be to get a surgery like that and then realize you can’t eat more than one ounce of food anymore. If you do decide to treat yourself every once in a while, you will have to deal with sever stomach pains and vomiting. On top of all that you have to deal with the trauma and risk of the surgery as well. The only pros I could find for the surgery, is that it is quick and easy.

While diet and exercise may not be the quickest or easiest way to lose weight, it will guarantee that you are becoming healthy in the process. Since your body will be working to lose the weight it will be reaping the benefits of that work and you will feel greater than ever. Eventually, once you’ve gotten used to exercising you will love doing it, and you will be able to eat what you’d like instead of having a stomach the size of a walnut.
