If you are not careful you could wind up losing the weight and then gaining it back again because of an unsustainable diet. Losing large amounts of weight and then gaining it back again creates chemical imbalances in your body and it could lead to serious health risks. For this reason you should be very cautious when selecting your weight loss regimen. Try to avoid regimens that require unrealistic amounts of exercise coupled with low food intake, that could pose a risk to your nutrition and therefore your health. The following are a couple of tips that you should follow to stay healthy while losing weight.

Before you lose weight, you should know that losing weight extremely fast may work, but it is not the best option if you are trying to keep that weight off. A lot of the time people lose weight fast and because they believe they can do it again they just eat whatever they want, and they wind up gaining it back again. Then they try the method they used the first time and it doesn’t work as good, leaving them just as unhealthy as they were in the beginning. The key is to select a diet that would be easy to sustain over long periods of time, and also to set your goals at a realistic pace. A good diet will promote a fast rate of weight loss while at the same time being sustainable and healthy. Starving yourself while running 3 miles a day, is not only unsustainable, but it is also very unhealthy for you.

Any diet that tells you don’t need to exercise is not letting you get the full potential out of your diet, and ultimately you will not be as healthy as you would be if you exercised. Exercise is a great way to lose weight because it builds muscle, which in turn burns fat…even while you sleep. A good diet will always involve counting calories. If your diet tells you that calories are irrelevant, then you need to switch diets immediately. No matter what diet you chose you should always use common sense, and don’t drink soda or eat junks foods. Avoid regimens that say you can eat anything as long as you exercise. While this is true to a certain extent, it doesn’t mean you can live off of junk food and then try to exercise vigorously, this will lead to serious health risks, and it will not help you lose a lot of weight.
